A group of 22, including 19 middle school students and 3 of their teachers from Parkview school , Canada, which is one of our sister schools, paid a visit to our school from April 9 to 12. The delegation was headed by their principal Dalton Beharry and their teacher of Mandarin Mr. Zhao. This has been their 5th visit to our school on purpose of experiencing Chinese culture and learning some Chinese.
Principal Su Xuyong met with the visitors at middle school and held a welcome ceremony, at which he introduced our school to the guests, including language prominence, teaching for international center. He then gave pictures with words to review the history of our two schools since the starting of the Confucius classroom and the building and development of the sister school friendship. Parkview School principal Dalton Beharry expressed their wishes for the study tour and thanked for our treatment and hoped that we could explore more new cooperation between our two schools. The students from Parkview school introduced themselves in both Chinese and English, and gave some tips of learning the language of Chinese. The visitors were shown around the campus of middle school. They also toured around the campus of our primary school, including the Chinese calligraphy room, the piano room, the robot classroom. They then were taught the Chinese martial arts. At middle school, the students were given a lesson of mandarin by our Chinese teacher Liuping, and then they took a test of mandarin which was demanded by our National Hanban.
To have more experience about Chinese culture and tradition, they were shown around some of the cultural relics nearby, including Confucius Temple, Confucius mansion, Confucius cemetery, Baotu Spring Park, Jiuding Pagoda and Qianfo Mountain. The students lived with their host families during their visits.
